All-on-6 dental implants

All-on-6 replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge supported by six implants. The extra implants spread chewing forces and give additional support compared with All-on-4.

Overview

All-on-6 is a full-arch treatment in which six implants are placed in one jaw to support a fixed set of teeth. At Rubi Smile, the healing time is usually three to six months, after which the final teeth, often on a titanium framework with zirconia teeth, are fitted. It suits people who have lost most or all of their teeth in a jaw and have enough bone for six implants.

If you have many missing, loose or badly damaged teeth, or wear a denture you are unhappy with, a full-arch implant solution can give you fixed teeth that do not move and do not need to be taken out.

With All-on-6, six implants are placed in carefully chosen positions in the jaw. Compared with All-on-4, the additional implants share chewing forces across more support points, which can be an advantage when bone volume allows.

Is it right for you?

Often suitable when

  • You have lost most or all of your teeth in one jaw, or they cannot be saved
  • You want fixed teeth instead of a removable denture
  • You have enough bone for six implants, as shown on a 3D scan
  • You are in good general health and can attend two visits
  • You are committed to daily cleaning and regular check-ups

Another option may be better when

  • Bone volume is limited: All-on-4 with tilted implants may be suitable
  • Only a few teeth are missing: individual implants or bridges may be better
  • Heavy smoking or uncontrolled medical conditions that affect healing
  • You prefer an implant-retained removable denture for easier cleaning or lower cost

How the treatment works

For each treated jaw, six implants are placed in positions planned from your 3D scan. Remaining teeth that cannot be saved are removed as part of the plan. During the healing period of usually three to six months, the implants bond with the bone.

After healing, your final teeth are designed and made, often with a titanium framework and zirconia teeth for strength and a natural appearance. We make final adjustments so your bite feels right and the smile suits your face.

Assessment and planning

Before starting we take X-rays or a 3D scan, check bone quality and gum health, and talk with you about your expectations, lifestyle and smile goals. We review your medical history and medicines carefully, because full-arch surgery is a significant procedure.

Your written plan explains how many teeth will be removed, whether temporary teeth are provided during healing, the timeline for both visits, and the cost.

Treatment stages

  1. 3D assessment and plan

Scan, examination, medical review, smile goals and a written plan for both visits.

  2. Surgery

Teeth that cannot be saved are removed and six implants are placed under local anaesthetic.

  3. Healing

Usually three to six months, depending on bone and general oral health.

  4. Final teeth

The final full arch, often titanium with zirconia teeth, is designed, fitted and adjusted.

  5. Maintenance

Instructions on cleaning around the bridge and regular professional check-ups.

Materials and techniques

Implants are made of titanium. The final bridge is often made with a titanium framework and zirconia teeth, chosen for strength and a natural look. Shape, size and colour are planned to match your face.

Recovery and aftercare

Swelling, bruising and discomfort are expected for several days after surgery. You will be given detailed instructions on medication, cleaning and a soft diet. Most people return to normal daily activities within days, though healing continues for months.

  • Follow a soft diet as instructed during healing
  • Do not smoke
  • Attend all follow-up checks
  • Learn how to clean under and around the bridge before your final visit ends

Risks and limitations

All-on-6 is major treatment. The risks we discuss with you include:

  • Infection and delayed healing
  • One or more implants failing to integrate
  • Nerve-related numbness or sinus complications, depending on implant positions
  • Speech and chewing take time to adapt to
  • Fracture or wear of the teeth on the bridge
  • Peri-implantitis (inflammation around implants) if cleaning is poor

Longevity and maintenance

Full-arch implant bridges are designed as a long-term solution. With good daily cleaning, professional maintenance and not smoking, they can serve for many years. The teeth on the framework may need repair or replacement over time.

What affects the cost

The cost of All-on-6 depends on:

  • Whether one or both jaws are treated
  • Extractions and any bone grafting required
  • The material of the final bridge
  • Temporary teeth during healing
  • Imaging and the number of visits

We do not publish fixed prices because every plan is different. After reviewing your X-rays or scans, we send a written, itemised quote.

If you are travelling to us

Plan two trips: the first for surgery (usually a few days to about a week), the second for the final teeth after healing. Your dentist will advise when you can fly and what to eat during healing. We stay in touch between visits.

Frequently asked questions

Is All-on-6 better than All-on-4?

Not in every case. Six implants provide more support points, which can be an advantage when bone allows. All-on-4 can be the better option when bone volume is limited. The choice is based on your scan.

Will I have teeth during the healing period?

Your plan will explain whether temporary teeth are provided during healing and what to expect.

How many teeth will the final bridge have?

A full arch of fixed teeth for each treated jaw, designed to look natural and allow comfortable chewing and speaking.

Can I eat normally afterwards?

After healing and with your final teeth, most foods can be enjoyed. A soft diet is needed during healing.
